Energy Smart Canada is proud to announce that it has received the Bridge Builder Award at the 2026 Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, recognizing the company’s commitment to strengthening its community through meaningful partnerships and local initiatives.
Sponsored by the Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta (RINSA), the Bridge Builder Award celebrates businesses that help create a more inclusive and connected community, supporting opportunities for others to participate, grow and succeed.
For Energy Smart, the recognition reflects a commitment that extends beyond renewable energy. Since its founding in 2001, the locally owned company has worked to help Southern Albertans reduce their energy consumption while contributing to projects and organizations that make a positive difference in the region.
“Energy Smart Canada is a wonderful example of what bridge building looks like in practice,” said Renae Barlow, a founding member of RINSA, following the awards. “Beyond its commitment to sustainable energy, the company has supported initiatives such as the Soaring Hearts transitional housing project for Indigenous women and children and the Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association. These partnerships demonstrate how businesses can contribute their expertise to strengthen the communities around them.”
Energy Smart Canada’s community involvement extends beyond major renewable energy projects. The company supports local sports teams, school programs and community initiatives, helping organizations and people across Southern Alberta access opportunities and resources. It also works with community facilities to make renewable energy more affordable and accessible. Through initiatives like these, Energy Smart aims to help community organizations reduce operating costs while making sustainable energy a practical option.
The award is particularly meaningful to the Energy Smart Canada team, who were honoured to be nominated alongside other outstanding local businesses. Taking home the award is a proud moment for the company and reinforces the importance of building strong relationships throughout Southern Alberta.
“We’re incredibly honoured and thankful to receive this recognition,” said the Energy Smart Canada team. “We’re proud to be part of a community that supports one another, and we believe that being a successful local business means contributing to something bigger than ourselves. Thank you to the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and RINSA for recognizing the importance of community leadership, and congratulations to all the businesses celebrated at this year’s awards.”
As Energy Smart Canada celebrates 25 years in business in 2026, the company remains committed to helping build a more sustainable future while supporting the people, organizations and communities that make Southern Alberta a great place to live and work.
